RE: Policy Updates
To All Apprentices:
Summer has finally moved into full swing. Many of you are having a good year with regards to your hours worked. As we approach the upcoming 2008 – 09 school year there have been some interesting changes in the policies. They are as follows; · All students will attend 160 hrs. of “Related Training” Charity jobs worked during the summer are noted on your MPR’s, not counted toward your “Related Training” (school time) (approval to add charity hours to your MPR must be authorized through the coordinator prior to working on the project) · Any apprentice that receives a 59% or lower in class will retake the class the following year If more than one class is failed during one school year, than the apprentice will re-take all the classes at that level the next scholastic season · Apprentices in level 3 classes must receive a 80% or higher in all of their classes in order to qualify for graduation · Apprentices in levels 1, & 2 must receive a 75% or higher in all of their classes If a lower score is given, a letter of recommendation will be sent to the contractor
We hope these policy changes will enable all apprentices to reach a higher level of quality and craftsmanship. The “JATC” is confident that this will benefit the apprentice, the contractor, and the industry as a whole. We hope all have a safe season.
Sincerely Yours,
Clint Mapes Coordinator
